Eugene Saltzberg, MD - A Career in Medicine
Dr. Eugene Saltzberg, an MD from Highland Park, Illinois, earned his psychology degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana. He then got his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at the University of Health Sciences. Dr. Eugene (Gene) Saltzberg went on to complete his residency at Chicago’s Children's Memorial Hospital after earning his MD.
Professionally, Dr. Gene Saltzberg has worked in medical roles and as an instructor. Early in his career, he was a staff physician at Condell Medical Center in Chicago, where he worked in the emergency department. He also held several key leadership roles, sat on the hospital's board of directors, and served as chief of staff during this time. Dr. Saltzberg served in a similar role at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, where he cared for patients at multiple urgent care centers. While there, he also mentored premed students at Northwestern University.
Today, Dr. Saltzberg holds multiple roles. Since 1987, he has been volunteering as a medical advisor and director at Lambs Farm in Libertyville, Illinois. He provides medical guidance to a center caring for about 160 adults with mental disabilities. He also serves on medical committees and evaluates new applicants.
Dr. Eugene Saltzberg also works as an associate professor at the Chicago Medical School, teaching classes like differential diagnosis and analytic thinking. He also mentors pre-clinical medical students and works as an emergency medicine consultant for the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid.
